Archaeological site
Site archéologique du Vieux-Poitiers
The Old Poitiers archaeological site is located in two communes near Chatellerault (Vienna), about 25 kilometres northeast of Poitiers. This site was occupied by Neolithic, as evidenced by the presence of a menhir, until the Iron Age. In the Gallo-Roman era, there is a town called Briva, which is a vicus of the Pictons. Most of the monuments of this small town are built in the period of the High Roman Empire, including a theatre.
