About

Deshaies Botanical Garden is a botanical garden located in the commune of Deshaies, on the island of Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe. The 7-hectare property belonged to various owners, first Guy Blandin to whom one owes the few rare plant species present in the park, then Coluche who bought the property in 1979, and finally Michel Gaillard, who bought the property on 1 October 1991 and decided to make it a public garden in 1998. The Deshaies Botanical Garden only opens to the public on April 1, 2001.

It is currently one of the most visited places in Guadeloupe. The park aims to make discover the richness of the flora of the West Indies and offers about fifteen different themes, such as the pond with nenuphars, the aviary with Loriquets, orchids, bougainvillea, banian, waterfall, cactus or tallipot.
