The Alexander-Soljenitsyne garden is the name of the old garden of the Place-de-la-Porte-Maillot. It is a green space on top of the 16th and 17th arrondissements of Paris.
The garden is accessible by stairs and an underground passage to 2, Place de la Porte-Maillot, in front of the congress hall. On the Neuilly side, there are two level pedestrian crossings. It also communicates by underground passage with the square Alexandre-et-René-Parodi, its neighbour, located in the 16th and created in 1958. It extends over 23,595 m2, making it the largest square in the district. It is served by line 1 at Porte Maillot station.
Origin of name: This name honours the Russian writer and dissident, Alexandre Soljenitsyne (1918-2008), major writer of the 20th century, Nobel Prize laureate for literature 1970, author of A Day by Ivan Denissovich, L'Archipel du Goulag and La Roue rouge.
