About

The Nelson-Mandela Garden, formerly the Garden of the Halles, is a green space of about four hectares in the middle of the Halles district of the 1st arrondissement, in the center of the city of Paris, France. It was created in the 1980s on the site of the former Halles de Paris. The garden is based on the slab that covers the Forum des Halles, a shopping centre that also houses some cultural activities.

The garden includes several lawns and numerous tree and shrub plantations. Among the remarkable elements are the Children's Garden, a tropical greenhouse buried in the basement and René Cassin Square, which forms a small amphitheater. A recast of the garden, carried out in parallel with the Forum, started in 2010 and ends in 2018.
