The Maison Seilhan was given to Dominique de Guzmán (also known as Saint Dominique) during the sharing of the legacy of Bernard Seilhan, viguier of the Count of Toulouse, on 25 April 1215. The act is kept in the National Archives. As a place where Dominique de Guzmán gathered her first brothers, she is considered the place where the order of the Preachers (Dominicans) was founded.
Maison Seilhan presents various artistic works depicting the saints of the Order and memories related to the figure of Henri-Dominique Lacordaire (1802-1861), restorer of the Order in France. Maison Seilhan (with the room of St.Dominic) can visit some days of the week, but access to the chapel at the ceiling with caissons is not guaranteed because courses at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse can be held there.
