The Joseph-Denais Museum, located in Beaufort-en-Vallée en Maine-et-Loire, labeled "Musée de France", brings together a diverse collection: natural sciences, fine arts, decorative arts, Egyptian and Mediterranean archaeology, French and foreign ethnography, local history. Small history of the Joseph-Denais museum: The last cabinet of 19th-century curiosities, the Beaufort-en-Vallée Museum is full of the personality of its founder, journalist and writer Joseph Denais (1851-1916). Very attached to its city, it gathers a rare, exotic and encyclopaedic collection. In 1895, Joseph Denais donated his collections to the town hall of Beaufort-en-Vallée. The city then seeks a place to exhibit the works. It negotiates with the savings fund the first floor of the building that it expands in order to install the future museum. Construction of the Museum - Savings Bank began in 1898 and opened its doors to the public in 1905. Joseph Denais died in 1916 in Beaufort-en-Vallée, leaving behind him a museum that houses more than 3500 works. His wife...
