About

The Musée de l'Image populaire is located in the commune of Pfaffenhoffen, Pfaffhoffe, a former commune in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region, integrated on 1 January 2016 into the new commune of Val-de-Moder. The museum, in a Renaissance building boldly renovated in 1999, presents traditional and contemporary folk art through collections of the Alsatian popular image painted by hand (glass painting, canivets, glomized, baptismal wishes, wedding memories, conscription and regimental memories, funeral texts). The former adjoining synagogue, classified as Historical Monuments since May 26, 1992, can be visited.
