About

The Ger ceramic museum bears witness to the flourishing activity of pottery in the Normandy countryside. Within the hamlet of Placître, a former potter village, he proposes to follow the various stages of pottery production and traces the gradual establishment of the pottery industry in Ger. From the 14th to the beginning of the 20th century, families of potters succeeded each other throughout the commune, making it one of the main potter centres of Lower Normandy. At its peak in the 19th century, Ger is a potter's center which occupies more than 700 workers producing mainly sandstone pots exported throughout western France.
