Trappist monastery
abbaye Notre-Dame d'Oelenberg
Notre-Dame d'Oelenberg Abbey is a monastery of Cistercian Trappist monks located in the commune of Reiningue, near Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin department, Alsace region), France. High place of spirituality in Alsace since the 11th century, it was occupied by a community of Cistercian-Trappist monks until 2024. This community had nine monks in 2023.
The ancient Jesuit church, with its nave, the two levels of its transept, its choir and its funeral vault, has been the subject of an inscription in the title of historical monuments (nave, two levels of the transept, choir, funeral vault, former cellar, chapel of novices, former mill) since 16 June 1992. The registration order of 22 July 2024 repeals the previous order.
