Bridge
passerelle de la Paix
The gateway to Peace is a pedestrian and cycling gateway that crosses the Rhône River and is located between the 6th arrondissement of Lyon and the commune of Caluire-et-Cuire in the Grand Lyon in France. The Grand Lyon has built a bridge between the Cité internationale and the Demonchy low square of Parc Saint-Clair in the commune of Cauire-et-Cuire. The first project, conceived in 1994, was not carried out because of a legal dispute with one of the candidates for the master of works[ref.
necessary]. A new project, designed by Austrian architect Dietmar Feichtinger and engineer Alain Ranvier, was relaunched in 2009. Work on this 220 m long bridge for the upper part (156 m for the lower part) began in March 2012 and was completed in 2013.
The bridge is named "Peace Bridge" by decision of the City Council of 22 October 2012. Posted on December 13, 2013, the opening to the public is on March 17, 2014. Originally, its design makes it impractical in the event of rain for pedestrians and cyclists.
Work started in July 2019 by the Métropole de Lyon solved this problem.
