Bridge
pont du Bonhomme
The Bonhomme Bridge is located in the Lorient region of France. It connects the towns of Kervignac and Lanester by crossing the Blavet and replaces a ferry used since the seventeenth century. Its location at the entrance to the valley is chosen to allow sailing boats to continue serving the upstream town of Hennebont.
The first work is a bay bridge and truss beam apron, manufactured between 1900 and 1904 by Ferdinand Arnodin. Several times damaged during the Second World War, it was rehabilitated after the conflict and operated until 1974. It was then demolished, with the exception of its two pillars, and replaced by a second work by Jacques Mathivat, who took over the technique of the beam bridge.
