Railway bridge
pont ferroviaire d'Olargues
The Olargues railway bridge, abusively referred to as the Eiffel Bridge, is a straight metal bridge that spans the Jaur. It was built between 1886 and 1889 by the Fives-Lille company under the direction of the bridges and carriageways of the Hérault department, of which Frédéric Ritter, chief engineer, was responsible for the construction of the platform and works of art of the Mazamet railway line in Bédarieux. The Viaduct d'Olargues was part of a lot, at the time of the auction, comprising another metal bridge located not far from there, in the hamlet of Julio, of different design and size.
This bridge is now integrated into the green road from Mazamet to Bédarieux. In 2011, this work was painted in red, exotic colour but completely removed from the original livery since it was grey.
