About

La Lavey's refuge is a refuge from the Écrins massif in the commune of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans, in the valley of La Lavey, which leads north to the Veneon valley. In 1882 the Isère section of the French Alpine Club bought two buildings in the hamlet of La Lavey. The shelter was renovated and raised from one floor in 1949, and expanded in 1972.

During the winter of 2011, the shelter barely escaped a landslide. It reached from the hamlet of Champhorent, on the road from Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans to La Bérarde, including two stone bridges on the Veneon and the torrent of La Muande. The elevation is 380 m for 2 hours of climb.
