Archaeological site
Roc-aux-Sorciers is a rock shelter with parietal sculptures dated from the Upper Paleolithic. It is located in the municipality of Angles-sur-l'Anglin, in Vienna (France). Parietal works are more precisely attributed to the recent Magdalenian (about 14,000 years before the present (AP)).
The site is called "Roc-aux-Sorciers" in relation to a local legend that witches and sorcerers were gathering in this place. The name of the place is mentioned in the literature by Jacques Rougé (1904) long before the discovery of the archaeological site.
