Roc-la-Tour is the name of a site located at an altitude of 400 m in the federal forest of Château-Regnault on the heights of Monthermé, in the Ardennes, at the confluence of the Meuse and the Semois, characterized by columns of quartzite which would be the remains of a hypothetical "devil castle". The place is one of the oldest sites visited in the region. The traces of the first travelers discovered in the 1970s date back about 15,000 years. By decree of 20 August 1935, Roc-la-Tour is classified as a natural site on the basis of artistic, picturesque, scientific, historical and legendary criteria.
Description: Located at the confluence of the Meuse and the Semois, Roc la Tour is also called "Château du Diable". The site peaks at 408 meters and dominates the Adenese forest in a beautiful green setting. Oriented to the southwest, the small massif of quartzite has at its base a large bouillis of stony blocks. It consists mainly of three tors (springs of towers of seven to eight meters elevation) and a small wall, which varies in height between ten and 15 meters.
