The Route Jacques Coeur is a French tourist route created in 1954 and located mainly in the region Centre-Val de Loire with an extension in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It crosses the departments of Cher (18), Loiret (45) and part of Allier (03) and links several castles, heritage sites and cities. The road derives its name from the banker, merchant and shipowner Jacques Coeur born in Bourges in 1395.
In 1439 he became great silversmith of the kingdom of France under Charles VII. He died in 1456. The route first bore the name of the circuit of the castles of the heart of France until 1961.
