réserve zoologique de Sauvage
The Sauvage Zoological Reserve is located in the French commune of Emancé in the Yvelines department about 12 kilometres southwest of Rambouillet. It is located in the 36 hectares of the Parc du Château de Sauvage which was acquired in 1973 by the "International Fund for the Preservation of Nature" (IWPF) under the leadership of René Jamous. It is above all a bird reserve since more than three quarters of the fauna consists of birds, the most noticed being the pink flamingos on a piece of water in front of the castle, peacocks and pelicans.
Apart from exotic birds held in aviaries, most of the animals are at large in the park and you can cross red-necked wallaby, cervical antelope, emus, axis deer or bicolored wallabies... This zoological reserve does not prevent the flora from having a right here especially since the storms of December 1999. Next to the classic regional flora, redwoods, Atlas cedars and Greek pines were planted.
