Théâtre Essaïon

The Essaïon Theatre is a theatre located 6 rue Pierre-au-Lard in Paris 4e, in the Marais district. Located in one of the medieval cellars of the former Golden Eagle hotel, it was born in 1975 from the will of a group of actors gathered around Régis Santon. This first installation will fail for lack of resources.

The place is taken over by José Valverde to present creations on contemporary pieces. In 1987, actress Alida Latessa succeeded her. In 1995, a second 70-seat room was created in another vaulted cellar of the previous one.

In 2003, theatre became a place primarily devoted to creative and repertoire songs and musical theatre. The small room is transformed into a 70-seat cabaret. It hosts the band Les Gogutes as well as the last concerts of Sophie Makhno.

In January 2006, the Aktéon Theatre team took over the reins of the theatre and reborn the theatre in the large theatre.
