About

Belleville Theatre is a theatre opened in 1828 and disappeared in 1962. He stood in the village of Belleville, Cour Lesage, at the height of 46 rue de Paris (today, Cour Lesage at 46 rue de Belleville). In January 1860, he became a Parisian theatre, following the enlargement of Paris, which annexed the village of Belleville.

In 1932, it was demolished and replaced by a new building whose only ground floor was a performance hall. From January 1937 until the 1940s, theatre and cinema alternated there, then it was just a cinema. In 1958, it was transformed into a music hall and closed permanently in 1962.

The name Belleville theatre was taken over today by a small theatre located a few hundred meters below 94, rue du Faubourg-du-Temple (11th), formerly known as the Royal Drum Theatre.
