The Nanterre railway viaduct is a railway bridge crossing the Seine, relying on Île Saint-Martin, between the communes of Nanterre, in the south, and Carrières-sur-Seine, in the north. It is an art work of the Nanterre-University line in Sartrouville used by the RER A and the Transilien L. With a total length of 450.5 m, it allows the crossing of the two arms of the Seine. It is located right next to the Carrière-sur-Seine motorway viaduct. It is also located near the English railway bridge, on the line from Paris-Saint-Lazare to Le Havre. The lines that travel through these two works converge a few hundred meters further northwest, before the station of Houilles - Carrières-sur-Seine. Nanterre's rail viaduct has a dual role:
or join the central section of the RER A, towards Nanterre-Prefecture, from the line of Le Havre to Paris-Saint-Lazare, for missions from Cergy and Poissy; or join the Saint-Germain en-Laye line in Paris-Saint-Lazare, at the level of Nanterre-Université for the L-line missions from Cergy.
