About

The deserted medieval village of Montchauvet, located in the commune of Saugues (Haute-Loire), on the eastern side of Mount Chauvet, is an archaeological site rediscovered in 1965 and surveyed from 1966 to 1991 by the teams of Brother Joseph Fabre and in 1994 by José Raymond and Christian Sermet, archaeology students of the University of Lyon II. Most of the exhumed material is medieval.
