Notre-Dame-de-Croaz-Batz

History: The granite construction of this Gothic and reborn church, decided in 1515, was undertaken between 1522 and 1545, on a land taken by the sea, near the "cross of the pier of Batz Island", at the initiative of the shipowners, despite the reluctance and pressure of the bishop of Saint-Pol. The construction was financed by the same shipowners joined by the merchants of Roscoff. It was not until 1550 that the inhabitants obtained the right to have their children baptized there and buried there, and the building was not consecrated until 1590 by Bishop de Neufville. The church of Notre-Dame-de-Croaz-Batz, the two ossuary and the enclosure are classified as historical monuments by order of 12 July 1886, 22 October 1913 and 23 January 1934 respectively. The association Save Religious Heritage in Life offers guided tours of the Church in July and August.
