Église Notre-Dame de la Nativité de Guinas

Presentation: Located in an airial in the Guinas district, 3 km southeast of Cachen, the small church Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativity is composed of elements built at different times, but the whole gives an impression of unity and harmony. Built probably in the 13th century, the early church was partially destroyed in the 16th century, at the time of religious wars. There appear to have been three reconstruction campaigns. The style of the original wall bell tower is respected but it probably dates back to the 18th century, the apse is capped by a neo-classical dome surmounted by a bell tower and lined with slates that represents a considerable structural work. This dome was restored in 1959, at the instigation of the Borda Society, with the financial support of the General Council of the Landes.
