About

Saint Martin Church is a Catholic church located in La Rochebeaucourt and Argentina, France.

Location: The church is located in the French department of Dordogne, in the commune of La Rochebeaucourt-et-Argentina.

History: From the 11th century there was a religious community which gradually had to grow and become a small abbey. The church is almost intact, but the convent buildings have now disappeared. In its present form, the church presents three stages of construction. From the 11th century, there remains a span of choir and the bell tower that overcomes it. In the 12th century, the semicircular choir had to be enlarged and vaulted in oven ass. Finally, in the 15th century, the nave was enlarged and a lower side was added to it to the north. In the 17th century, the altar master was built in the middle span of the lower side. The set is raised in beautiful regularly seated cut stones and covered in canal tiles. The building was classified as historical monuments in 1974.
