About

Saint Martin Church is a Catholic church in Esnandes, France. The church of St.Martin of Esnandes, classified as a historical monument since 1840, was built in the 12th century as evidenced by the superb carved gate of the facade. It was rebuilt and fortified in the 14th and 15th centuries, in a sober and elegant Gothic style, then restored in the 19th century.

It preserves 18th-century classified furniture, including a 1775 pulpit. Both church and fortress, the building astonishes with its imposing appearance on the edge of the Poitevin Marais, once vast Gulf of Pictons. The Romanesque façade of the 12th century, the fortifications of the 14th century and the furniture of the 18th century bear witness to centuries past.

From the round road you will enjoy the panoramic view of the Bay of Aiguillon, the marsh and the village.
