Location: The church is located in the French department of Charente-Maritime, in the commune of Lorignac, in the centre of the village.
The church was built in the 12th century. The current building is the result of several work campaigns dating from the Romanesque period, the Gothic period for vaulting and the 19th century for restoration and expansion. The choir was rebuilt in the 14th century and the transept was doubled by chapels in the 15th century. A crypt under the crusillon was filled in 1775. From the 12th century, the church preserved its facade, nave, span under bell with its dome on pendants and its supports of columns with capitals. Unfortunately, historic capitals were mutilated by iconoclasts. One sees a capital with a Tree of knowledge of good and evil, but Adam and Eve were hammered, probably by prudence, because they were represented naked. On another capital, we find a scene of handing over the keys to Saint Peter.
