About

Saint-Étienne Church is a Catholic church located on the territory of the commune of Bouttencourt, French department of the Somme, in France, away from the inhabited areas, on the slope exposed to the south of the Bresle.

History: Saint-Étienne de Bouttencourt Church was built during the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. The building is protected as historical monuments for bouchets ends decorating the cornices: classification by order of 18 May 1908. The rest of the church was registered by decree of 4 March 1926.

Characteristics: The church is composed of a 15th century nave with frame vault and 15th century lower side. The cylindrical columns supporting the vault are decorated with Frisian capitals. This frieze is decorated with sandstones carved with medallions and fantastic animals wrapped in foliage rinseaux. At the cross of the transept, there is an ancient beam of glory between two faces of monsters on which statues rest.
