About

The church of Sainte-Eugénie is located in Biarritz, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. It depends on the parish of Notre-Dame-du-Rocher, which it forms jointly with the parish communities of the church of Saint Joseph, the church of Saint Charles, the church of Saint Martin, the chapel of the Holy Spirit of Braou and finally the church of Sainte-Thérèse of Biarritz. The church has been served since 2012 by the Saint-Martin community, at the request of Bishop Aillet, Bishop of Bayonne.

A chapel dedicated to Saint Eugénie, patron saint of the Empress of the French, was inaugurated in 1856. A bell tower was built in the same year, using a donation of 30,000 F from Emperor Napoleon III. On the day of the inauguration, a first Mass was celebrated in the presence of the imperial family.[Ref.
