Church building
église Sainte-Hélène des Istres
Saint Helena des Istres Church is a church in the municipality of Istres-et-Bury. St. Helena Church is the former parish church of the Istres.
Considered one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in the Marne, it is currently "very damaged" and disused. It is located in the hamlet of Istres, street of the church, and is surrounded to the north and to the west by fields. The building is one of the few Champagne churches under the name of Saint Helena.
This name comes from the abbey of Hautvillers, on which it depended and which had the relics of the saint since the ninth century. Saint Helena des Istres has been a historic monument since 14 March 1927.
