Church building
église Sainte-Rita de Paris
The Sainte-Rita church in Paris was built in 1900 in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. Dedicated to Saint Rita de Cascia, it is founded as a place of worship for the Apostolic Catholic Church, a result of the millenarian movement. It became a Gallican church in 1987-1988 and gained a certain media reputation, particularly because of the blessing of animals that took place there every year.
It was put on sale in the years 2000-2010 and promised demolition in 2011-2012, resulting in a series of protests. At the end of 2015-August 2016, the building was occupied for a few months by a traditional Catholic association. It was finally transformed into a climbing hall in March 2024.
