Church building
église Sainte-Thérèse-de-l'Enfant-Jésus d'Élisabethville
The Church of Sainte-Thérèse-de-l'Enfant-Jésus of Élisabethville (Yvelines), now known as the Sainte-Thérèse Cultural Building, is a former Catholic religious building. It was one of the first religious buildings in reinforced concrete built in France, and the first church entirely built and carved in concrete. The "place de Louvain" in the residential city of Élisabethville (comune of Aubergenville, Yvelines), the church was built as a votive chapel dedicated to Sainte-Thérèse de Lisieux, in tribute to Franco-Belgian friendship.
It is the work of architect Paul Tournon. Sculptor Carlo Sarrabezolles cut directly into fresh concrete, in six weeks, the thirty-five statues that make up the western facade.
