jardin Léon-Zyguel
The Léon-Zyguel Garden is a green space in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, France.
Situation and access: The garden is accessible by 77 Pixérécourt Street. It is open to regulated hours. It is served by line 11 at Telegraph Station.
Origin of name: It is named after Léon Zyguel (1927-2015), who was rescued from the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps.
History: The garden was set up at the site of a hangar demolished in 2012 (on Pixérécourt Street) and a garden in the state of wasteland, at the bottom of a plot on Rue du Soleil. The two spaces together total 1,135 m2. The old half-well of the neighbouring plot was restored and returned to be placed in the new green space: topped by a tap, it was transformed into a drinking water fountain. The garden was inaugurated on May 29, 2017. With a lawn and children's playground, it is planted with native plant species of Île-de-France.
