The covered alley of Boun Marcou is located in Mailhac in the Aude department.
Description: The covered alley was discovered by Philipe Helena in 1930. It is about 5.50 m long for 1.50 m wide. It is facing west-east and opens to the rise. It consists of nine orthostats: five north side, two south side, one west side and one cross-sectional slab internal to the chamber. The room itself was to be 2.50 m long by 1.50 m wide. The tenth visible slab corresponds to a cover table. All slabs are limestone except for the cover table which could be in puddingue from which a deposit can be found within a short distance. The floor of the chamber has a fairly elaborate limestone pavement covering a second archaeological layer. The tumulus disappeared but "it had to exceed the chamber by 1.50 m of all parts", an oval of about 8.50 m long for 4.50 m wide.
Archeological search: The excavations delivered a funerary furniture composed of lithic material (11 arrows and 9 flint blades), two shale pallets, tools (1 bone punch, 1 copper needle) and 380 ornaments (270 various beads...
