About

The Notre-Dame-de-la-Perseverance Chapel, or Saint Paul Chapel, sometimes designated as a church, is a Catholic religious building located in Barbizon, France. It is part of the house-workshop of Théodore Rousseau.

Situation and access: The building is located in the Grande Rue, in the center of Barbizon. More broadly, it is located in the Seine-et-Marne department, in the Île-de-France region.

History: With the arrival of the painters in the 19th century, the rural hamlet not constituting a parish developed drastically. The former barn of the workshop of Théodore Rousseau is arranged in chapel and is consecrated in 1899. She was enlarged twice during her life: in 1920 and 1964. In the 2010s, a glass roof fell into the part one 1965.
