About

The Chapel Saint-Jean-Baptiste du Rudlin is a Catholic chapel located in Plainfaing, France.

Situation: The monument is located at the edge of the D23 at the Rudlin, 701 metres above sea level.

History: Previously, there was a hermitage in front of the Lady's Pond. In the 17th century, a chapel was built at this location. Later, the Lesseux family rebuilt it in front, at the foot of the hill, and since then maintained it. During the First World War, his approaches were used as a temporary military cemetery. The chapel was then damaged during the Second World War, leading to the reconstruction of the Gothic-style bell tower using wooden essis.

Description: The chapel is surmounted by an iron cross and a Grand Tétras. In 2010, the Lesseux family carried out renovations on the roof and bell tower of the chapel. This work was carried out with the financial support of the Heritage Foundation.
