Choisy Castle was a royal castle located on the banks of the Seine, in Choisy-le-Roi (in the current Val-de-Marne department). He was the residence of the Great Mademoiselle, cousin of King Louis XIV, of the Grand Dauphin, son of the latter, or of Louis XV, his great-grandson. Two Louis XV period pavilions have been registered as historic monuments since 2 May 1927, as amended by order of 3 November 2020. The castle fell into ruins after the French Revolution and almost no longer exists.
The building of the castle: Between 1678 and 1686, Mademoiselle de Montpensier, cousin of Louis XIV, known as "La Grande Mademoiselle", acquired 40,000 pounds of a "pleasure house" located in Choisy and had a castle built in place on the plans of Jacques IV Gabriel. This castle is known by engravings by Mariette, Perelle and Aveline. The carved pediment and interior decoration are the work of Étienne Le Hongre and Charles de la Fosse (1682-1686).
