Church building
oratoire carolingien de Germigny-des-Prés
The Carolingian church of Germigny-des-Prés or church of the Très-Sainte-Trinité is a French church located in Germigny-des-Prés in the Loiret department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Built between 803 and 806 by the bishop of Orléans Theodulf to form one of the thirteen new "town halls" erected on the monastic estate of Fleury of which he is Abbé, it remains until today the only church of Francie to have retained original parts of a mosaic of Carolingian style. The building, almost entirely rebuilt in 1876, is located in the natural region of the Loire Valley, whose cultural landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was listed as a protected historical monument in 1840.
