arboretum de Pézanin
The arboretum of Pézanin or arboretum domanial of Pézanin is an arboretum created in 1903 and located in Dompierre-les-Ormes, Saône-et-Loire, in the south of Burgundy. Nestled for more than a century in a valley at the foot of Mont Saint-Cyr, the highest point of southern Burgundy, it extends over 27 hectares. It has been owned by the Ministry of Agriculture for over 80 years and is managed by the National Forestry Board (NFB). It is one of the oldest and richest arboretums in France. There are several hundred species or varieties of trees from all over the world, as well as a 4 ha pond. Fishing (carp, pike) is authorized and regulated by fishing cards.
Geography and location: It is accessible via RCEA (RN79), Dompierre-les-Ormes, 20 minutes from Mâcon, Paray-le-Monial, Cluny. The particular nature of the site, with its lake and this strong impregnation within the forest, contribute to the reputation of the arboretum. The medium-mountain landscape with a strong wooded presence is known as the small Swiss Mâconnais region, and can also be seen as high-jurassian landscapes.
