About

The Cirque-Théâtre d'Angers, also known as Théâtre National, was a concert hall located in Place Molière in Angers.

The building, of light architecture, was built in 1866. For circus shows, it could accommodate 1,600 people around a 13 m track. 2,000 people could attend the theatre performances. On January 1, 1899, the circus theatre was bought by the city.

The acoustics of the hall was well known and it hosted many concerts of the Society of Popular Concerts. Jacques Doriot gave a lecture in 1941, but the building was not properly maintained during the war. It served as a morgue after 1944 and was destroyed in 1962.
