The abbey of Saint-Michel de Frigolet is an abbey of pre-monstrated canons, located near Tarascon, inside the Montagnette, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Founded in the 12th century, it is isolated in a wild valley in the middle of pines, olive trees and cypress trees. Her name is Ferigoulo, the thyme in the Provencal language. Today, the abbey hosts a community of pre-shows and has two monastic hotels, a bookshop and a restaurant.

From the Middle Ages to the Revolution: The first traces of constructions are dated from the 7th century, but the history of Frigolet begins in the 12th century, when the first religious community settled. In 1133, the name of the priory was mentioned for the first time. A community of regular canons of Saint Augustine is grouped around his prior Guillaume de Loubières. Pope Adrien IV confirmed this installation in 1155. The first constructions were then elaborated: cloister, Romanesque church and Notre-Dame chapel.
