Roman theatre
théâtre romain de Vervins
The Roman theatre of Vervins is a monument of shows built in the second half of the first century in Verbinum, a town of Soessonnes which later became Vervins. It was discovered in 1870, it is composed of stands arranged in half circle around the stage wall over a length of 25 meters with an orchestra located two meters deep. Traces of stones calcinated on the wall suggest that a fire hit the building.
The theatre could contain a few thousand spectators. These archaeological discoveries attest to the relative importance of Verbinum.
