pont Voltaire
Pont Voltaire or bridge of the industry is former road bridge crossing the Gier at Rive-de-Gier in the south-east of the Loire department. It was one of the 20 bridges of the commune. Built in 1903, it was originally called the Forges Bridge, before taking the official name of the Industry Bridge before its inauguration in June 1904.
In 1936 he took the name Voltaire Bridge in tribute to the philosopher. The bridge disappeared in 1967 under the cover of the Gier.
