Bridge
pont du Sardon
The Pont du Sardon (16th century – 1888-1986) was one of twenty bridges built in the commune of Rive-de-Gier, in the Loire department. The first bridge allowed access to the Gier valley to the nearby coal loads. It collapsed under the weight of the charge around 1880.
A stronger bridge was built and a third bridge replaced it in 1986. It was commissioned by the Loire department, costing 24,000 francs in 1886 and 1,200 000 francs in 1986.
