musée Curie
The Curie Museum is located in the heart of the "Curie Campus" in the Val-de-Grâce district of the 5th arrondissement of Paris, close to the Panthéon where Pierre and Marie Curie have been resting since 1995. Composed of a permanent exhibition space and an archive centre, it offers the public to discover the history of the discovery of radioactivity and its first medical applications with radiotherapy. This museum, a place of memory and knowledge on the history of science, occupies the "Curie Pavilion", built by architect Henri-Paul Nénot (1853-1934) and managed by the CNRS and the Institut Curie, which also occupies the neighbouring pavilions " Pasteur" and "des Sources".
On November 25, 2024, the Ministry of Culture announced that it would classify the building as a historic monument after a threat of demolition to build a more modern building. This prospect of demolition had given rise to many polemics and a great wave of support to preserve the building as it stood.
