chapelle du calvaire de Galey
The Notre-Dame-de-Pitié chapel of Galey is a 17th-century church located on the edge of the village of Galey, in the Ariège department, France.
Location: It is at the top of a hill to the west of the village at the place called Le Calvaire at 880 m altitude. A 17th-century cross road with five stations whose paintings were restored in 2016, leads from Saint Peter's Church to the heart of the village to the chapel.
Description: It is erected on a rectangular plane with a simple nave and a small bell tower with a single alveole with bell and a powerful central foothill. On the other hand, an open appenti faces the ordeal.
A table representing the Cross Descent in a retable is classified as an object and inventoried in the Palissy database.
Evaluation of the heritage: Since 1972, the Galey Patrimoine association has been monitoring the town's architectural and furniture heritage and mobilizing resources for its maintenance.
