The Saint-Roch de Courtenay Chapel is a 16th-century chapel in Courtenay, Isère department.
History: This religious building owes its name to Roch de Montpellier, patron saint of pilgrims (1293-1327), son of illustrious family of lords of Montpellier. In Gothic style, this chapel was built in 1528 by the family of La Balme also known as La Baume de la Balme. This building was restored in 2013.
Situation and access: Surrounded by the limestone hills of the eastern side of the plateau of Isle Crémieu, this chapel is located near the village of Courtenay, located in the northern part of the department of Isère, between Bourgoin-Jallieu and Ambérieu-en-Bugey. The nearest railway station is Bourgoin-Jallieu railway station.
