About

The Cave du Visage, also known as aven du Charnier, or cro du Charnier in some magazines, was first called cave de Vilhonneur. It is an adorned cave located on the territory of the former commune of the same name, in the new commune of Moulins-sur-Tardoire, in Charente, region Nouvelle-Aquitaine. It has been renamed "Croat du Visage" to avoid confusion with the Grotto du Placard located in the same old municipality of Vilhonneur. The new name refers to a parietal painting depicting a stylized face inscribed in a natural concretion and evoking a head with its hair.
