la Moutète
La Moutète is a market hall (and a former basketball hall) located in the city of Orthez, in Béarn (France). The Moutère site has been hosting a market since the 14th century. Built in the 1930s, this hall was the theatre of the exploits of the Béarnais Élan d'Orthez, one of the largest clubs in French basketball, before his move to Pau and the Palais des sports de Pau in 1991.
A major renovation in the early 2000s confirmed its social, cultural and commercial vocation, since the Moutète is still the heart of the market that is held every Tuesday morning. It is also a theatre, located in the heart of the city of Orthez. Hall with a unique atmosphere known as hostile to the opposing players, the matches were played with the sound of the bandas perched at the top of the famous rostrum of the « henhouse ».
His parquet was cut and divided for the supporters on the occasion of the Elan's move.
