About

Rambouillet Castle, a former royal, imperial and presidential residence, is located in Rambouillet, capital of the southern Yvelines district in France in a park of 980 hectares within the Rambouillet forest. Rambouillet Castle is a quiet place for princes and sovereigns. Remote from the court of the king of France (Paris or Versailles), the princes and head of state use the estate and the castle as a high place of diplomacy: they suit their guests during presidential hunts or at leading international events such as the first G6 summit in 1975. Part of the estate is classified as Historic Monuments by order of 30 November 2010 which replaced those of 23 March 1896, 14 March 1944, 8 June 1967, 29 August 1977 and supplements the registration order of 29 August 1977. By Decree No. 2024-472 of 24 May 2024, Rambouillet became a national domain. The castle and the interior parts were classified as historical monuments in its entirety by this decree.
