About

The castle of Puech Mascou, sometimes simply château de Giroussens, is a former castle, now disappeared, formerly located on Puech Mascou in Giroussens, in the Tarn (France). He dominated the Agout near the present village. Built by the Trencavel in the 11th century, it belongs successively to the Viscounts of Lautrec, the lords of Castres, the family of Comminges, the family of Foix and the kings of France. Ravaged by a fire in 1562, it was abandoned in 1625.
